Summary:

Have Faith was a game was created in 48 hours working alongside a team comprised of designers, artists and a technical artist during the Global Game Jam 2016. The theme given was 'Ritual'.

The game is focused around around co-op play, with one player acting as 'the god' having to look at a physical map and guide a second player, 'the follower' towards totems before their faith meter runs out. The challenge comes in the fact that neither player can look at the resource of the other. The totems that players must reach replenish the faith bar, but can only be used to recharge once, becoming unusable after leaving the zone. The lower the faith meter gets, the smaller the vision radius in the screen gets.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Rapid prototyping of gameplay ideas and mechanics such as the faith bar and how fast it should deplete.

  • Balance testing of the social multiplayer aspect of the game, taking into account both the physical & digital elements, their complexity and how they affected gameplay difficulty.

  • Creation of basic 3D assets.

  • The design and layout of the map; including creation of the landmarks, making sure everything was matching on the physical map.
